Transformation of the Paradigm of Balanced Spatial Development of the Region: Domestic and Foreign Experience

The article presents a review of the main theories of spatial development, factors of productive forces location, formation of production and non-production proportions of development, interregional interaction, spatial equilibrium, evolution of theoretical ideas about balanced spatial development of the region in the context of foreign and domestic practice. Modern fundamental and empirical research conducted by domestic scientific schools of spatial economics: Siberian, Far Eastern, Ural, Moscow, St. Petersburg is defined. The author's concept of the definition of "Balanced development of the region" is proposed. Promising directions of scientific research in the field of balanced spatial development of regions are formulated.
